Bangladesh to receive 1.31 lakh shots of Covid-19 vaccine under COVAX by month-end
The government will receive a total of 1.31 lakh shots of Covid-19 vaccines under the COVAX facility by the end of this month, health secretary Abdul Mannan said today.
There is no hassle to get vaccinated and the apprehension regarding the vaccine is going away, he said following his visit to Dhaka Medical College Hospital vaccination centre.
He informed that some six lakh people have registered to get vaccinated so far and 78,000 were vaccinated.
On February 3, Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi and the World Health Organization -- as co-leads of the COVAX initiative for equitable global access to Covid-19 vaccines, alongside key delivery partner Unicef -- published COVAX's first interim distribution forecast.
According to the forecast, Bangladesh will get 1,27,92,000 vaccines from the COVAX programme.
