Amid spike in Covid-19 transmission, Dr Meerjady visits Chapainawabganj

Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora, additional director general (planning and development) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), today made an official visit to Chapainawabganj amid alarming rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the district.

Dr Meerjady landed at Rajshahi airport in the morning and then went directly to Sona Masjid land port area in Chapainawabganj to inspect the overall situation there, reports our local correspondent.

She later joined a meeting with local healthcare professionals and public representatives at the conference room of Panama Port Link Limited and made suggestions towards lowering the rate of Covid-19 transmission in the district. Local lawmaker Dr Shamil Uddin Ahmed Shimul and Civil Surgeon Dr Jahid Nazrul Chowdhury were also present at the meeting, among others.

The DGHS additional director expressed her satisfaction regarding the ongoing lockdown in the district to curb Covid-19 infection rate.

In the afternoon, Dr Meerjady visited Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital. She is also scheduled to join a meeting at the conference room of Chapainawabganj deputy commissioner's office, and then attend a press briefing later today.
