At least 88 more Bangladeshis, who were stuck in India, returned home through the Gede-Darshana border in Chuadanga today.

Of them, one tested positive for Covid-19.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chuadanga Monir Parveen, also the convener of the Covid-19 Control and Prevention Committee, confirmed the news to our Kushtia correspondent.

The 88 Bangladeshi came home between this morning and evening using the Darshana check-post, the ADC said.

With this, a total of 547 people returned to the country so far through this border. Of them, nine people tested positive for Covid-19.

On reaching the Darshana check-post at the border, health screening and antigen tests of the returnees were conducted by a medical team of health ministry, said Monir Parveen.

The man who tested positive for Covid-19 was taken to the isolation ward of Chauadanga Sadar Hospital, said Sub Inspector Abdul Alim, in-charge of Darshana-Jaynagar Immigration check-post.

The 87 others were sent to different places for a 14-day mandatory quarantine, added SI Alim.

He said the check-post will remain open until the people stuck in India return.
