85 people fined in Khulna for defying restrictions
On the first day of the seven-day "strict lockdown" today, mobile courts in Khulna fined 85 people for defying the lockdown.
The drives were conducted by the magistrates of Khulna district administration under the supervision of Khulna district Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain, reports our Khulna correspondent quoting Devashish Basak, executive magistrate of the district administration.
Eighty-five persons -- 37 in Khulna town and 48 in nine upazilas of the district -- were fined a total of Tk 54,500 during those drives, he added.
Apart from this, people were called upon to wear masks and follow health guidelines and warned that legal action would be taken against those involved in defying the lockdown, he informed.
The mobile courts were assisted by members of police, Ansar and Armed Police Battalion (APBn).
