7-day strict restrictions announced in Bagerhat
A seven-day strict lockdown has been announced in Bagerhat district to avoid unnecessary gatherings amid the surge of coronavirus infection.
The announcement was made by the district's Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Azizur Rahman after an emergency meeting of the district coronavirus prevention committee at 5:00pm today, reports our Bagerhat correspondent.
The restrictions, which begin from 6:00am tomorrow, will remain effective until midnight on June 30.
Public transport service will remain suspended during the restriction. People were asked not to travel from one upazila to another.
However, workers involved in transporting agricultural goods and emergency services will be exempt from the restrictions.
DC Azizur Rahman said the restrictions were imposed as per the decision of the emergency meeting of the district corona prevention committee to curb the spread of Covid-19.
People are being informed about the restrictions through loud speakers and several other campaigns, said the DC.
He warned of taking legal action against those who defy the restrictions.
