Four people died at the coronavirus unit of Khulna Medical College Hospital during 24 hours till this morning.

Of them, two were Covid-19 positive while the rest had symptoms of the infection, said Dr Shuhash Ranjan Haldar, focal person of KMCH's coronavirus unit, and also the hospital's resident medical officer.

The doctor said one of the persons who died of the virus was a resident of Narail while the other was from Khulna.

A total of 374 samples were tested at the hospital in the last 24 hours and of them, 148 tested positive for coronavirus, hospital sources said. The current infection rate is 39 percent.

Of the 148 infected persons, 46 are from Bagerhat, five from Satkhira, six from Jashore, one from Pirojpur and another is from Narail, sources said.

The coronavirus unit of KMCH has 100 beds but currently 141 are taking treatment in the unit.

Of them, 76 are taking treatment in the Red Zone of the coronavirus unit of the hospital, 16 in Yellow Zone, 28 in High Dependency Unit and 21 are admitted in Intensive Care Unit.
