17 Covid-19 deaths, 1,497 new cases reported in 24 hours

Seventeen people have died from Covid-19 during 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With these, the total number of deaths so far reached 12,458 and death rate stands at 1.57 percent.

At least 1,497 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,93,693, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 9.11 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.52 percent.

A total of 16,434 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 1,056 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,33,866 and the recovery rate at 92.46 percent.

Among the 17 deceased, 10 were men and seven women while one was between 31-40 years old, one between 41-50, four within 51-60 and 11 were above 60 years old, added the release.
