The Asian University for Women (AUW) has appointed British political scientist Professor Nirmala Rao as its vice chancellor effective from February 1, 2017, said a release yesterday.

Prof Rao, an expert on governance of cities, has served as pro director of the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London.

She has extensive experience of public service and served as an adviser to a range of bodies including, UK Audit Commission.
