Prof Kashinath Roy no more

Kashinath Roy, former professor at DU's English Department has passed away at a private hospital in the capital yesterday. He was suffering of old age complications. He was 73 at the time.

The director of Public Relations office at DU confirmed the news.

Following his retirement, Professor Kashinath was working as an adjunct faculty of Eastern University's English Department.

He had joined Dhaka University in 1975 until his retirement in 2014. He was also an author of some influential books and was also a poet. He was an editor of the English to Bangla dictionary, published by Bangla Academy in 1993.

In a condolence message, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman said Prof Roy was devoted to the philosophy of literature. He will be remembered for his outstanding contribution to the practise, spread and research of English literature.
