Pro-BNP lawyers protest Wednesday's 'attack' on them

Pro-BNP lawyers yesterday formed a human chain on the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) premises protesting the “attack on them” during their programme on Wednesday.

The lawyers led by SCBA President and BNP Vice Chairman Advocate Zainul Abedin also held a meeting under the banner of SCBA during the human chain from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.

Advocate Zainul condemned the “attack” on the pro-BNP lawyers during their court boycott programme and demanded punishment for the “attackers”.

He also called on the lawyers to unite to protect the independence and image of the judiciary, and to establish human rights and justice in the country.

On Wednesday, pro-BNP lawyers of the SC observed the court boycott programme at both the Appellate and High Court divisions of the SC from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

The boycott came protesting the HC verdict that enhanced the punishment of BNP chief Khaleda Zia, in the Zia Orphanage Trust Corruption case, from five years to 10 years.
