‘Navy officer attacked’: Haji Selim’s son Erfan arrested
Erfan Selim, son of Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Selim, has been arrested after a case was filed against him on charge of "attacking" Lt Wasif Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Navy in Dhanmondi area of Dhaka last night.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion conducted a drive at the house of Erfan, a councilor of ward 30 of Dhaka South City Corporation, at Old Dhaka in the afternoon and arrested him.
Confirming the arrest, Director of Rab's Media Wing Lt Col Ashik Billah around 3:30pm told journalists that Erfan's bodyguard was also taken into Rab custody in connection with the case.

Lt Wasif filed the case with Dhanmondi Police Station last night, naming four accused including Erfan Selim (37) and two to three unnamed persons, Officer-in-Charge of the police station Ikram Ali Miah told The Daily Star. The other three named accused are AB Siddique Dipu (45), Md Zahid (35) and Md Mizanur Rahman (30).
Earlier, Lt Col Ashik Billah said the elite force arrested Erfan Selim not only in connection with the case but also based on some other specific allegations against him.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Md Noman today placed Mizanur Rahman, driver of Erfan's car that was involved in the incident, on one-day remand after Investigation Officer Ashfaq Ragib Hasan, also inspector (investigation) of Dhanmondi Police Station, produced him before the court with a five-day remand prayer in the case.
