Ex-Navy Chief Rear Admiral MH Khan passes away
Rear Admiral Musharraf Hussain Khan, former chief of Bangladesh Navy, passed away at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital yesterday.
He was 87, according to a press release issued by Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR).
Relatives and members of Bangladesh Navy expressed deep condolence for his death. Rear Admiral MH Khan served as the chief of the Bangladesh Navy from November 7, 1973 to November 3, 1979.
During his tenure, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on December 10, 1974 commissioned Bangladesh Navy's largest training base BNS Issa Khan and also handed over “naval ensign” to Bangladesh Navy on the same day.
He will be buried at his family graveyard at Bangla Motor in the capital on Monday following a namaz-e-janaza after the Zohr prayers at BNS Haji Mohsin in Dhaka Cantonment.
Rear Admiral MH Khan was born on February 1, 1932 and joined the navy on January 1, 1954. He left behind a son and wife, and a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn his death.
