Digital archive on partition opens at Netaji Subhas univ
A digital repository on the partition containing writings and memories of people who have experienced 1947 and 1971 was inaugurated by Netaji Subhas Open University, India.
The university's Centre for Language, Translation and Cultural Studies developed the archive that was opened during the third international conference titled "Partition Katha", held in Kolkata recently.
Audios and videos narrating historic incidents are available at the repository and researchers will be able to use those from the university website.
Indian litterateur Debesh Roy was present as special guest at the opening ceremony presided over by the university Vice Chancellor Prof Subha Sankar Sarkar.
Bangladesh Open University (BOU) pro-VC Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain and the Indian university Prof Manan Kumar Mandal also spoke at the event.
The Daily Star Editor and Publisher Mahfuz Anam took part in a discussion on "Country and some stray questions."
Assam University former VC Tapodhir Bhattacharjee and eminent academic Prof Fakrul Alam participated in different sessions.
Prof Barendu Mandal of Jadavpur University, BOU Registrar Shafiul Alam, Abul Mansur Ahmad Smriti Parishad Convener Imran Mahfuz, among others, took part in the seminar.
