Ctg police to seek remand for Amir Khasru in ICT case
Chattogram police have forwarded an application to take BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury on remand in connection with the case filed against him under ICT Act and Special Power Act with the city's Kotwali Police Station on August 4, sources have said.
On Sunday, Amir Khasru landed in jail after he surrendered before a Chattogram court, which rejected his bail plea.
Court sources said investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector (SI) Sanjoy Guho of Chattogram Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch has placed a remand forwarding letter to the prosecution, seeking a two-day remand for Amir Khasru on five grounds.
Refusing to disclose details, Sanjoy Guho said police sought remand for the BNP leader to find out answers of some vital questions.
The remand hearing is scheduled for tomorrow.
Jakaria Dastagir, general secretary of Chattogram city unit of BCL, filed the case on August 4, after a phone conversation allegedly between Khasru and a BNP activist was leaked.
2 BNP LEADERS REMANDED
A Chattogram court yesterday put two BNP leaders on one-day remand each, in a case filed with Kotwali Police Station over attacking police and obstructing them from discharging duties on Sunday.
The court of Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Mohiuddin Murad granted the remands for Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, BNP's central organising secretary, and Abul Hashem Bakkar, general secretary of city unit of BNP, said Assistant Commissioner (Prosecution) Kazi Shahbuddin. The two were arrested on Monday in GEC area.
