Badiuzzaman Tunu Bir Protik passes away
Badiuzzaman Tunu Bir Protik, a prominent freedom fighter from Rajshahi, passed away early yesterday. He was 91.
During the Liberation War, he left his job at a pharmaceutical and fought in the front-lines.
His son-in-law Ariful Haque Kumar said Tunu had a heart attack a week ago. He was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and went home after a few days. On Sunday evening, he fell ill again and was taken to the hospital, where he breathed his last, Kumar said.
He left behind five children and a host of friends and well-wishers.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at Laxmipur Shahi Jame Mosque after Zohr prayers. He was laid to rest with state honours in city's Hatem Khan graveyard.
Rajshahi city mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and lawmaker Fazle Hossain Badsha condoled his death.
