Today marks the 44th death anniversary of Bangladesh Navy's Freedom Fighter Lt AM Ataul Haque. Lt Ataul joined the Royal Indian Navy in 1945.
In 1971, he joined the Liberation War, defying allegiance to Pakistan Navy.
At the conclusion of the war, he had a significant contribution in organising the new navy for an independent Bangladesh. He passed away from a cardiac arrest on February 23, 1977 at the Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka.
On the occasion, relatives and admirers have been requested to pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
