3 held with firearms, bullets in Dhaka

Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today claimed to have arrested three people along with six firearms and ammunitions in Khilgaon area of Dhaka.
The arrestees are Khan Md Foysal, 38, Md Ziaul Abedin alias Jewel, 45, and Md Zahed Al Abedin Alias Rubel, 40, police said.
On information that a gang of criminals was holding a meeting at a house in Shipaibagh area of Khilgaon for carrying out subversive activities, the detectives raided the area around 8:00pm yesterday, Shahidur Rahman Ripon, additional deputy commissioner of DMP’s detective branch (East), told The Daily Star.
They arrested the trio from the house but seven other members of the gang -- SM Omor Faruk Lolat, 32, Anis, 45, Mithu, 35, Mamun, 35, Moyeen, 28, Tarif, 35, Anik, 32, -- managed to flee the scene, the police official said.
Police recovered an AK-22 rifle, 4 foreign-made pistols, one native revolver and 47 bullets from the spot, he added.
Police filed a case in this connection and were trying to arrest the absconding criminals, the police official said this afternoon.
