The prison official said Mainuddin was admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital from Kashimpur Central Jail-1 on March 30 with old-age complications.

He breathed his last around 5:45am, he said. Meanwhile, Sirajul was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after he fell sick at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj around 10:30am.

He was declared dead by on-duty doctors, Mahbubul added.

Sirajul's wife Suraiya Hossain said a mobile court sentenced her husband for six months on March 28 and since then he was in jail.  He was a diabetic patient, she said adding they visited him twice in the prison.

Both the bodies were kept at the respective hospital morgue for autopsy.
