Former principal sent to jail on surrender
A Dhaka court yesterday sent Selim Bhuiyan, a BNP leader and former principal of AK High School & College, to jail after rejecting his bail in a case filed for misappropriating Tk 3.16 crore from its fund.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Abu Syed passed the order after Selim through his lawyer Sanaullah Mia surrendered before the court seeking bail in the case.
Another accused Md Iqbal Hossain, chief accounts officer of the institution, was also sent to jail on his surrender before it seeking bail in the case.
Md Shamsul Islam, the incumbent principal of the school and college, filed the case against the duo on March 23 this year for their alleged involvement with misappropriating the amount of money from the school and college fund.
After the hearing, the court ordered police bureau of investigation (PBI) to probe the matter and submit a report on it.
After an investigation, PBI submitted a report before the court on October 3 saying that the charges brought against them were primarily proved.
After receipt of the report, the court issued summons asking them to appear before it yesterday.
Showing respect, Selim also president of Shikshak Karmachari Oikya Jote and Iqbal surrendered before the court and it sent them to jail.
