Fire service inspector shot in capital

Criminals shot and injured an inspector of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Old Dhaka's Patuatuli last evening.

With injuries in his right leg, Sirajul Islam Mridha, a warehouse inspector in the Siddikbazar headquarters, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Abdul Malek Mollah, leader of Sadarghat Fire Station.

They also exploded crude bombs nearly 150 yards off the headquarters, added Malek.

They snatched a bag containing some documents from him, said Sirajul.

Primarily suspecting that it was a mugging incident, Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Hasan said the criminals thought there was money in that bag.
