BPO firms can play a part
Incorporating Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industries in the health sector can improve the overall medical services, said speakers yesterday.
They were speaking at a session of the third BPO Summit Bangladesh.
The ICT division and Bangladesh Association of Call Centre and Outsourcing (BACCO) organised the two-day summit, attended by 80 local and 30 international analysts in Dhaka Sonargaon Hotel. The summit ended yesterday.
BPO is a subset of outsourcing that involves contracting the operations and responsibilities of a specific business process to a third-party service provider.
During the session titled, “Customer-Centric Healthcare Delivery System and BPO”, speakers said the ICT and BPO industries can play a vital role in the health sector.
As experts in customer-centric process, technology-based service companies and BPO organisations can join hands with the health care institutions for building a better management and service design to enhance the patients' experience.
Speaking at the session, CEO of E2logicx Corporation Fida Hossain said many patients do not have medical records, which is important for getting a proper treatment from any doctor.
“So a BPO firm can keep the electronic heath records of patients, which will make it easier for a doctor to treat the patient. It will also help the hospital management…” Managing Director of Enroute International Limited Abu Daud Khan said recruiting employees or managing human resource or call-based services can be handled by BPO firms.
Director (Business Development, PR and Branding) of DIGICON Shama Mahzabin Alam said rural people do not know where to seek help or which doctor to go to during emergencies. A BPO firm, which provides medical-related services, can also help them in this regard by providing them with necessary information. CEO of Smart Health Bangladesh Ltd Shahnewaz Arefeen also spoke. CEO of Doctorola Ltd Abdul Matin Emon moderated the session.
