4kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

A Preventive Team of Dhaka Custom House seized 40 gold bars weighing 4.64 kilogrammes from a flight of US Bangla Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this morning.

Tipped off, the team conducted a search on BS308 coming from Singapore soon after it landed at the airport around 7:55am, Mohammad Sydul Islam, assistant commissioner of customs, told The Daily Star.

During the search, the officials found a small bag after tearing a seat of the flight and found the gold, he said.

The market price of the seized gold is approximately Tk 2.32 crore, Sydul Islam added.

None was arrested in this connection.
