17 Dhaka University students, 5 teachers get Dean's Award
Seventeen students of seven departments under the science faculty of Dhaka University received “Dean's Award” yesterday for their outstanding results in honours examination of 2013.
Besides, five teachers of the faculty -- Prof Shapla Shirin, Prof Mohammad Abul Hossain, Associate Prof Md Abdus Salam Akanda, and assistant professors Md Anamul Haque and Mahfuzur Rahman Khokan -- received Dean's Award for their extraordinary contributions to research and writing books.
The students are Armin Anwar of the physics department; Khadija Khatun, Faizunnesa Khondaker, Farhana Akond Pramy and Md Rabiul Awal of the mathematics department; Md Saiful Islam and Md Amjad Hossain of chemistry; Mirajul Islam, Nasrin Sultana, Najiba Akter, Ashis Talukder and Zergina Zakir of the statistics, biostatistics & informatics department, and Md Tuhin Sheikh, Tahmina Akter, Sylvi Pinky Chakrabarty, Shajratul Alam and Farha Ferdous Sheela of the Institute of Statistical and Research and Training.
DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed certificates among the awardees as the chief guest at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
