NSU hosts World Cup Quiz Competition 2026

North South University's (NSU) School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) hosted the NSU World Cup Quiz Competition 2026. Students from classes 8 to 12 from educational institutions across Bangladesh participated in the competition. A total of 520 teams participated in the competition.

The champion team received BDT 50,000, while the first and second runners-up were awarded BDT 30,000 and BDT 20,000, respectively. The event also featured an engaging show-and-debate between Brazilian and Argentinian football supporters, performed by NSU students.

The competition was graced by Benajir Ahmed, Founder Life Member and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of NSU, as the chief guest. Sheikh Camara, Ivorian footballer, attended the event as the special guest. The programme was chaired by Prof. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice- Chancellor of NSU, while the opening address was delivered by Prof. Md Rizwanul Islam, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Prof. Md Rizwanul Islam warmly welcomed the participants, teachers, and guardians. He said, "The true winner of today's quiz competition is the sportsmanship shown by our participants."

Benajir Ahmed said, "Seeing the incredible participation of such young students in today's competition has been absolutely exhilarating."

Prof. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury praised the students' enthusiasm, saying, "The FIFA World Cup celebrations are deeply rooted in NSU's culture, and today’s quiz competition expands on that legacy."

The championship title was won by "Offside Offenders". The first and second runners-up were "Rigged & Ready" and "NO BENCH", respectively.
