Internet users dropped by 28 lakh in December
The number of internet users dropped by about 28 lakh in December last year compared to a month earlier, according to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
The latest data from BTRC showed that the internet users stood at 12.38 crore in December, a 2.19 per cent drop from the previous month. The number of users was 12.66 core in November.
The drop solely comes from subscribers who use the internet through handheld devices, according to the BTRC.
The number of subscribers using the internet through handheld devices stood at 11.37 crore in December, down from 11.65 crore in November last year.
On the other hand, the number of internet subscribers using broadband increased lightly to 10.09 in December last year, up from 10.07 crore a month back.
However, the number of internet users rose 10.73 per cent year-on-year to 12.38 crore in December. It was 11.18 crore in the same month in 2020.
