Memorial event to honour July martyr Zulfi at UODA on Aug 7

Zulfikar Ahmed Shakil, also known as Zulfi, was one of the first martyrs among fine arts students across the country during the July uprising.

He was a student of the Faculty of Fine Arts at UODA (University of Development Alternative).

During the final phase of the movement on August 4, he was shot in the head while protesting in Mirpur. After battling for his life in the ICU of the National Institute of Neurosciences Hospital, Zulfi passed away on August 7, 2024.

To honour his martyrdom, a memorial gathering and special video screening will be held at the UODA Fine Arts premises on August 7 at 11:00am, said a press release.

Later in the evening, there will be a candlelight vigil and a floating lamp ceremony at Dhanmondi Lake. The event will be attended by students, teachers, and alumni of UODA's Faculty of Fine Arts, as well as Zulfi's peers and family members.
