Eastern University launches Research Society with inaugural workshop

Eastern University (EU) has launched the Eastern University Research Society (EURS) to strengthen research and innovation within the institution.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice-Chancellor of EU, who unveiled the EURS logo as chief guest.

In his speech, he highlighted the importance of research in higher education, calling the society a "new beginning" for fostering innovation, knowledge-sharing and academic excellence at EU.

Special guests included Dr. Abul Bashar Khan, Registrar; Prof. Dr. M. Sayedur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration; and Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. They encouraged students to take an active role in research initiatives.

As part of the programme, Dr. Md. Zahurul Haq, Associate Professor in the Department of Law, delivered a workshop on "How to Write a Conference Paper," guiding young researchers in developing academic writing skills for national and international platforms.

The event was chaired by Dr. Abu Bin Ihsan, Chairperson of the Department of Pharmacy and Chief Coordinator of EURS, who outlined the society's vision and future plans, inviting students and faculty members to contribute to building a stronger research culture at the university.

Eastern University said the launch of EURS represents its commitment to becoming a hub of research and innovation, enabling its academic community to explore, create and contribute to the global knowledge arena.
