Stocks drop after two-day rise

The DSEX lost 12.94 points to close at 4,951.72

Indices of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell today, ending its previous two-day gains.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, lost 12.94 points, or 0.26 percent, to close at 4,951.72.

The DSES Index, which represents Shariah-compliant stocks, declined 0.82 percent to 1,089.91, while the DS30, comprising blue-chip stocks, dropped 0.55 percent to settle at 1,833.76.

Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, fell 6 percent from the previous session to Tk 549.74 crore.

Of the 395 issues traded, 116 advanced, 253 declined, and 28 remained unchanged.

Global Islami Bank was the day's top gainer, rising 10 percent, while Khulna Printing & Packaging lost 9 percent to become the day's biggest loser.
