NPSB’s maintenance: BB asks banks for alternative steps to ensure transactions

Due to the maintenance of the National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) for three hours tomorrow, the central bank has asked banks to make alternative arrangements in order to facilitate interbank transactions.
The NPSB is a system to facilitate card-based interbank electronic payments.
Bangladesh Bank in a letter said the NPSB system will remain down from 9:00am to 12:00pm tomorrow for emergency maintenance.
The time for maintenance may be higher than the projection depending on the situation, according to the letter sent to the managing directors and chief executives of banks yesterday.
As such, the BB asked banks to make alternative arrangements to ensure interbank transactions through cards by using ATMs, Point of Sales (POS), QR code, and take measures to facilitate internet banking and e-commerce during the downtime.
The BB also directed banks to send messages or notifications to their clients about the downtime, according to the letter.
