An exposition on food and chemical lab will start in Dhaka's Bangabandhu International Conference Centre tomorrow.
The Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) and the United States Department of Agriculture-funded Bangladesh Trade Facilitation (BTF) Project made the announcement today for the first-of-its-kind show to be held in Bangladesh.
The announcement came from a press meet held in the auditorium of Capital Market Journalists' Forum in Dhaka.
The objective of the Food and Chemical Lab Expo 2022 is to highlight the strong capacity of the network of food and chemical laboratories of the country in a bid to build public trust in them and to ensure safe food for all.
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder will inaugurate the expo.
The day-long expo targets to create an effective network between public and private sector laboratories, said Md Abdul Kayowm, chairman of the BFSA.
The expo will help public and private laboratories engage more actively in food safety management for the local consumers and boost export, he said.
The BFSA is working relentlessly to ensure food safety in the country by playing the role of a coordinator among the government, private sector and testing institutes, he said.
The expo will be a platform to share knowledge and experiences about technologies, best practices, and international standards in food safety issues, he added.
The fair will be attended by 38 public and private laboratories and six machinery suppliers.
A scientific session on "Ensuring food safety, promoting trade: the role of accredited laboratories" will be organiged during the expo.
The gates of the expo will remain open for all from 10 am to 6 pm.
