Dhaka stocks open mixed on morning trade

Indices at the Dhaka Stock Exchange posted mixed performance in early trading today, with the benchmark DSEX rising slightly to recover from the loss of the previous session.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, edged up 6.01 points, or 0.11 percent, to 5,454.84 by 11:36 am, a modest rebound after yesterday's dip.
The mood was mixed across the board: the Shariah-compliant DSES inched down 0.02 percent to 1,189.98, while the blue-chip DS30 slipped 0.37 percent to 2,115.70.
Turnover, an indicator of investor activity, reached Tk 386.63 crore at the time.
Market breadth tilted positive, with 205 issues advancing against 100 declining and 83 holding steady.
Among the notable moves, Chartered Life Insurance shot up 9 percent to top the gainers' list, while Fareast Finance & Investment slid 8 percent, posting the steepest fall of the session so far.
