UIU and SUNY Brockport sign MoU
A memorandum of understanding was signed between United International University (UIU) and State University of New York, Brockport yesterday. Prof. Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Vice Chancellor, UIU and Dr. Ralph R. Trecartin, Assistant Provost for International Education, SUNY - Brockport, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective universities.
Under this MoU, both universities have agreed to establish and enhance educational links between them for the purpose of furthering cooperation through both educational and academic exchanges.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Musa, Dean, School of Business and Economics, Prof. Dr. ASM Sohel-Uz-Zaman, Director, BBA Program from UIU, and Dr. Rehnuma Karim, Assistant Prof., SUNY - Brockport were present at the signing ceremony.

MoU signed between Stamford and BARD
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Stamford University Bangladesh and Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) on January 10, 2015. Professor Dr. M. A. Hannan Feroz, founder Vice Chancellor and President, BOT, Stamford University Bangladesh and Moshiur Rahman, Director General of BARD signed the MoU.
In view of this agreement, educational and research oriented activities will be conducted jointly between these two institutions. These will include internship program, research study, research assistance, exchange of resource persons including arrangement of seminars, workshops and training programs.

Orientation ceremony of spring semester at NSU
The orientation ceremony of spring semester at North South University was held on January 17, 2015 at the NSU campus.
At the opening session, Md. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary, Ministry of Education was present as the chief guest. Dr. Amin Sarkar, Vice Chancellor chaired the ceremony. Benajir Ahmed, Chairman, BOT, NSU was present as the special guest. Among the members of the BOT, M.A. Hashem and M. A. Kashem joined this event as guests of honour.
Dr. Gour Gobindo Goswami, Treasurer and Convenor of the program; Dr. Miftahur Rahman, Dean, School of Engineering & Physical Sciences; Dr. M. Mahboob Rahman, Dean, School of Business; Dr. Selim Sarwar, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences; Dr. G.U. Ahsan, Dean, School of Health & Life Sciences; Dr. Emdadul Haq, Director (Student Affairs); and Dr. Kazi Abu Sayeed, Proctor delivered their speeches. Md. Shahjahan, Registrar, delivered the welcome speech. Chairs of the respective departments, faculty and administrative members, students and guardians were present on the occasion. A cultural session was held after formal session to conclude the event.

DIU Alumni Association celebrates Alumni Night 2015
Daffodil International University Alumni Association (DIUAA) celebrated “Alumni Night 2015” on January 16, 2015 at the university campus.
Anisul Huq, former President, FBCCI & Chairman, Mohammadi Group graced the occasion as the chief guest and Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, BOT, DIU was present as the guest of honour. The event was presided over by Monjurul Alam, Head, HR, Eastern Bank Ltd. and President, DIU Alumni Association. Prof. Dr. M. Golam Rahman, acting Vice Chancellor (Pro-Vice Chancellor) and Dr. Aminul Islam, Emeritus Professor and founder Vice Chancellor of DIU were present as the special guests. The function was addressed by Md. Shafiul Alam, Managing Director, Hyper Tech Ltd. and convener of the program.
The program included a “Meet the Leaders” segment, alumni network session, cultural events, fun events and musical performances.

CIU hosts seminar on “Bangladesh - Development
Performance and Future Challenges”
Chittagong Centre for Advanced Studies (CCAS), in association with Chittagong Independent University (CIU), organised a seminar on “Bangladesh - Development Performance and Future Challenges” on January 17, 2015 at the Library Reading Room of CIU.
Dr. Syed Sajjadur Rahman, Senior Fellow, School of International Development and Global Studies, University of Ottawa; Senior Associate, Universalia, Montreal; and Mentor, Monitoring and Evaluation Mentoring Program, Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), Islamic Development Bank was the keynote presenter on the subject. He expressed dissatisfaction with the present state of political and social condition, sudden change in government policies, lack in democracy and sustainability in all aspects of infrastructural development in his speech.
Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, former Professor, Department of Economics, Dhaka University (DU) was present as the chief guest. Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, former Governor, Bangladesh Bank and Dr. Zaidi Sattar, Chairman, Policy Research Institute attended as special guests. Syed Mahmudul Huq, Member, BOT, Chittagong Independent University was the chair and moderator of the seminar. Prof. Mohammad Ali Taslim, Chairman, Economics Department, DU; Moslehuddin Khaled and Dr. Syed Manzur Quader, Assistant Professors, SoB, CIU; Zillul Hye Razi, Trade Advisor, Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh; Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mazid, former Chairman, National Board of Revenue and Chairman, Board of Directors, Chittagong Stock Exchange also spoke on the subject.
