Body for draft policy on domestic helps formed
The government yesterday formed a six-member committee to formulate the draft of domestic helps policy for protecting the rights of the workers.
The decision was taken at a meeting of Tripartite Advisory Council at the labour ministry with State Minister for Labour Mujibul Haque Chunnu in the chair.
Joint Secretary Khandaker Mustan Hossain has been made the convener of the committee which was asked to submit its draft within three weeks.
The policy will provide the 15-20 lakh domestic helps working in the country with some basic facilities including fixed working hours, a common minimum wage, weekly holidays and primary healthcare, Chunnu said.
