Buses, trains, launches to operate at half capacity from tomorrow

All public transports will resume operation from tomorrow.
Inter-district and long-distance buses, launches and trains can operate at half capacity across the country.
Meanwhile, the government today extended the ongoing countrywide restrictions on movement and public transports till May 30 to contain the spread of Covid-19 infection.
A circular was issued in this regard.
Nur Mohammad Mazumder, chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), confirmed to The Daily Star that movement of long-distance buses will resume from tomorrow.

Also, in total 56 intercity trains (up and down) and 18 local trains will resume operation from tomorrow, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said during a deal signing ceremony today.
He came up with the information at Rail Bhaban in Dhaka today.
Fifty percent train tickets will be available online. No ticket would be available at station counters to avoid crowds during the present Covid-19 situation.
However, sale of tickets has not started till 4:00pm.
"We will open online ticket sale once we get order from railways headquarters," a station manager, wishing not to be named, told The Daily Star around 4:00pm.
Launch service will resume from tomorrow at half capacity, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Chairman Commodore Golam Sadeq told The Daily Star today.
"Wearing mask is must for all. In violation of the directives, we will cancel route permit of the respective launches, " he said.
