Star’s Jamalpur correspondent passes away
ABM Aminul Islam Liton, Jamalpur correspondent of The Daily Star, died of brain stroke at the intensive care unit of a hospital in Delhi this morning, family sources said quoting doctors. He was 52.
He left behind his wife, a third grader son, an HSC examinee daughter, father, six brothers, a host of relatives, colleagues and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Hailing from Jurkhali Charbandha village in Motherganj upazila in Jamalpur, Aminul was also an assistant professor of English at Nurunnahar Mirza Kashem College in Motherganj.
Aminul Islam had been suffering from kidney diseases for last two years. In January, he went to Delhi for kidney transplant. He was scheduled to undergo kidney transplant surgery on April 26.
But he, along with his wife and kidney donor, were infected with Covid-19 recently and they all recovered a few days ago, said family sources.
"In the meantime, my brother Aminul Islam suffered a massive brain stroke on Friday and was admitted at the hospital's ICU where he died this morning", said Aminul's younger brother Anisur Rahman Babul, a school teacher by profession.
