Padma bridge: Minister hopeful of starting Mawa-Bhanga rail services

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan today said they are hopeful about starting railway service on Mawa-Bhanga section when the Padma bridge will open to public likely in June next year.

The minister said this while visiting the project site at Mawa today.

He was visiting the site as the railway viaduct at Mawa end was connected with the main Padma bridge on May 3.

The Mawa-Bhanga section witnessed 66 percent progress till April while the overall project witnessed 41.5 percent progress.

Bangladesh Railway is constructing 169km railway from Dhaka to Jashore via the under-construction Padma bridge.
