Movement pass during ‘lockdown’: 15,000 applying every minute for ‘advanced emergency’
The "strict lockdown" does not start till 6:00am tomorrow. Yet, on an average 15,000 people are registering every minute after police launched a "movement pass" app to be able to go out during the seven-day restrictions.
According to Police Headquarter data, around 1,25,000 people across the country have applied for the movement pass in the first hour after the app's launch, for "advanced emergency".
Questions regarding the overwhelming number of applications for movement pass arose as emergency service providers are already out of the purview of the restrictions.
Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed earlier today launched the movement pass app.
Police officials said a person cannot apply with the same mobile number more than once for the same reason. They also said a movement pass will expire three hours after issuance.
