Mistaking crude bomb for toy: boy dead, 2 injured in explosion
A boy was dead and at least two others were injured after an abandoned crude bomb they picked up -- thinking it was a toy -- exploded in Jashore's Keshabpur area around 12:00pm today.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman (7), an inhabitant of Barkhola village under the upazila.
Jasim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Keshabpur Police Station, said the children found the crude bomb in a water pump room that was abandoned for over a year.
As they started playing with it, the crude bomb exploded, leaving one dead and two others injured, he said.
The injured were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital for treatment.
