Don’t panic over black fungus: health minister
After two patients in Dhaka were detected with mucormycosis infection or black fungus, Health Minister Zahid Maleque urged people not to panic over the disease.
"People in India are being infected with black fungus. It has also been detected in Bangladesh… We have to take precautions [to prevent it]. The pharmaceuticals have already been instructed to keep medicines ready," the heath minister said after inaugurating the inoculation of Chinese Covid-19 vaccine at Dhaka Medical College Hospital this noon.
In the first phase, students of Dhaka Medical College, Sir Salimullah Medical College, Surawardi Medical College and Mugda Medical College will receive the vaccine, the minister said.
Students of other medical colleges across the country will be vaccinated gradually, he added.
"We hope that, we will receive adequate amount of vaccine from June," he said.
