Bangladeshi returning from India falls ill in quarantine, dies in Jashore
A woman, who returned from India and was in institutional quarantine in Jashore, died at a local hospital last night.
Ambia Khatun (32) breathed her last at Jashore Chest Disease Hospital around 11:00pm yesterday, the district's Civil Surgeon confirmed.
He said Ambia and her husband Abdul Awal, residents of Narayanganj's Siddhirganj, were in quarantine at a hotel in Jashore town.
The hotel authorities confirmed that the couple was sent to quarantine on May 7, reports our Beanpole correspondent.
They went to India for medical treatment as Ambia was suffering from kidney problems, diabetes and high blood pressure, said Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Abu Shaheen.
The local administration was informed when she fell sick yesterday evening. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance where she died later.
She tested negative for coronavirus, the hospital authorities said.
Her body was sent to her village home with the help of police.
