Another Hefajat leader arrested from Dhaka
Members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested a Hefajat-e-Islam leader from a madrasa in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area early today.
The arrestee Ataullah Ameen is the assistant organising secretary of Hefajat's central committee, Lt Col Khairul Islam, director, Rab's Intelligence Wing told The Daily Star
He was held from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa around 12:30am and will be handed over to police, the Rab official said.
Ataullah Ameen, also the joint secretary general of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, had been staying in the madrasa since Hefajat men were being arrested following their recent mayhem, sources in the law enforcement agency said.
He was an accused in cases filed for violence by Hefajat men in 2013. Law enforcers are investigating his role in the recent violence too, sources also said.
With him, at least 11 top leaders of the Islamist group have been arrested in recent times.
