All measures taken to face Cyclone Yaas: state minister
All kinds of measures have been taken to deal with Cyclone Yaas, Enamur Rahman, state minister for disaster management and relief, said today.
The minister said this during a meeting on preparations to tackle Cyclone Yaas at the Secretariat, according to a press release issued in this regard.
"Police, Ansar, BGB personnel and volunteers of Cyclone Preparedness Programme are ready. They will work according to instructions," Enamur Rahman said.
It is unlikely for Cyclone Yaas to hit Bangladesh's coastal areas if its current course remains unchanged, the minister said.
"The cyclone is currently 500 km away from Odisha and 605 km away from Bangladesh's coastal area," the minister said this, adding that the department of disaster management is closely observing the cyclone and will act accordingly.
