4 including 2 students killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka
At least four persons, including two students, were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka.
The deceased were identified as Sultan Rony (22), a student of Dhaka College; Rahim Mia, (10) a class one student; Mohammad Masud (40), a wrecker truck driver of police; and Sharifa Begum, a temporary cleaner of Dhaka North City Corporation.
Rony along with his two friends on a motorcycle were heading towards Signboard area via Mayor Hanif Flyover.
On their way, the bike skidded off the road around 5:00am today, leaving the trio injured, said deceased's father Abdur Rahim quoting the injured.
They were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Rony dead. His friends -- Shaheen (22) and Nayeem (22) -- are now receiving treatment at the hospital, inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said.
In another accident in Kamrangirchar area, Rahim sustained critical injuries after being hit by a microbus when he went out of their house in Khalpar area. He was rushed to DMCH where doctors declared him dead around 8:30am, said Rahim's father Mohon Chan.
Police seized the microbus and detained its driver after the incident.
Meanwhile, wrecker truck driver Masud sustained injuries after another truck hit his vehicle when he was trying to remove a covered-van seized by police under Hanif flyover in Jatrabari area around 11:00pm yesterday.
He was declared dead by the doctors at DMCH. One Khaled, who also sustained injuries in the accident, was undergoing treatment there.
Hailing from Barishal district, Masud used to live with his family in Shanir Akhra area.
Inspector Bachchu Mia said the bodies were kept at hospital morgue for autopsy.
Sub-inspector Shamsul Haque of Khilkhet Police Station said Sharifa died on the spot after an unidentified vehicle hit her when she was working in Khilkhet area around 5:30am today.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to DMCH morgue for autopsy. Police are trying to identify the vehicle, he said.
