Three Bangladeshis returned home last night through Benapole check point after serving in Indian prison for two years.
The returnees are: Imran Hossain of Faridpur, Elahi Mia of Brahmanbaria, and Taslima Akter of Khulna.
Ahsan Habib, officer-in-charge of Benapole Check-post Immigration Police, said that they went to India -- with help of brokers -- without any passport or visa two and half years ago in search of work, our Benapole correspondent reports. Indian police arrested them from different parts of the country and later a court sentenced them to two years in jail.
They returned to Bangladesh through special travel permits with the intervention of the two countries' home ministries. All three were taken to 14-day mandatory quarantine. After completion of the quarantine they will be handed over to a local NGO.
