Dean Conway replaced as Bangladesh physio

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has ended its contract with physio Dean Conway and has appointed Thihan Chandramohan to fill the vacancy on the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka, a BCB press release informed today.

The 37-year-old Australian, according to the BCB, will join the squad today in Galle where the first Test begins tomorrow.

Chandramohan is an experienced sports physiotherapist who has worked with elite level and first class cricketers in his capacity of lead physio for Hampshire County Cricket Club in the UK and Victoria Stars and Victoria Bushrangers in Australia.

According to Bangladesh team manager Khaled Mahmud, Chandramohan is set to arrive in Sri Lanka from Melbourne this afternoon, will join the team in Galle tonight and should be working with the team from tomorrow.

As of now, he has been appointed for this tour only and a decision on a full-time physio will be taken later.

Conway, an ex-England physio, had joined the national team in December 2016 and was appointed till the 2019 World Cup.

He was the side’s physio during the preparation camp in Australia and the tours of New Zealand and India. But when the Bangladesh team left for Sri Lanka on February 27, Conway was left behind in Bangladesh.

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury had then said: “He has some administrative and banking matters that need to be resolved and that will take some time. That's the reason he did not go with the team. We are working on that right now. Hopefully he will join the team in the next two to three days.”
