Charge framing hearing July 6

A Sylhet court has fixed July 6 for the charge framing hearing in the murder case of former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria.

Acting judge of Sylhet Speedy Trial Tribunal Monirul Islam Patwary, also district and sessions judge, set the date yesterday.

Among the 32 accused in the case, 20, including Habiganj Municipality Mayor GK Gous, were present in the court.

Speedy Trial Tribunal Public Prosecutor Kishor Kumar Kar said: “Court fixed July 6 for the next hearing. The charge will be framed the same day.”

On June 11, Habiganj District and Sessions Judge Md Atabullah sent the case to the tribunal. On June 2, Judicial Magistrate's Court of Habiganj transferred the case to the District and Sessions Judge's Court.

On January 27, 2005, Kibria, among five, was killed in a grenade attack during a public meeting in Habiganj.
