Udichi travels to India with “Half Akhrai” and “Bou-Basanti”

Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Goshthi will stage its much-popular productions "Half Akhrai" and "Bou-Basanti" in India as part of Ganga-Jamuna Theatre Festival. Members of Udichi's theatre unit have travelled to West Bengal, India on an invitation from the organisers of Ganga-Jamuna Festival. Udichi will stage "Half Akhrai" today at Burdwan Sangskritik Manch, while another play "Bou-Basanti" will be staged on October 3 at the same venue.
Both of the plays have been written and directed by Dr. Ratan Siddiqui and Azad Abul Kalam respectively.
"Half Akhrai" encircles the historic conflict between Ramnidhi Gupta, popularly known as Nidhu Gupta, father of Bangla Tappa songs and his once-favorite disciple Mohanchand, while "Bou-Basanti", a comedy, is set against the backdrop of the Liberation War of 1971.
