Dhaka University Drama Troupe (DUDT) has organised their third drama festival titled, ‘Guardian Life Dhaka University Drama Troupe Natya Utshab 2019’ at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC), University of Dhaka (DU). The event, which opened on October 1, concludes today. It features the performances of three different stage plays by different groups.
It was inaugurated by Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Vice Chancellor of DU.
Zahid Ahsan Russell was the chief guest of the opening ceremony. Dr Ahmedul Kabir, Chairman of the Theatre and Performance Studies Department and the Moderator of DUDT, Md. Rashidul Hasan, President of One Bangladesh, Abul Hasnat Sohag, CEO of Ekachabazar, Md Sanwarul Haque, President of DUDT and Rafikul Islam Shobuj, General Secretary of DUDT were also in attendance.
On the first day, the play, Indemnity, was staged. Written by Mannan Heera and directed by Md. Sanwarul Haque, this play was produced by DUDT. The play revolves around the infamous indemnity law that was passed after the murder of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Yesterday, the play, Neelakhyan, was presented by Mohakal Natya Shampraday. Based on the short story Shapurey by Kazi Nazrul Islam, the play is written by Anan Zaman and directed by Yousuf Hasan Arko.
On the final day, Rahu Chandaler Har will be staged by Arshinagar in the evening. Based on Abhijit Sen’s novel of the same name, the script was written and directed by Reza Arif.
