It’s quality over quantity for Riaz
Versatile actor Riaz has been charming viewers through his brilliant performances in both film and television for years. He is the current Vice President of Bangladesh Film Artist Association, an initiative committed to serving professionals in the film industry. The artiste opens up about the state of the entertainment industry, his plans for Eid and more in a candid conversation with The Daily Star.
Can you tell us about your projects for the upcoming Eid?
I am only working on one Eid tele-fiction, directed by Chayanika Chowdhury. Aupee Karim is my co-star in it. The script and the character I play in the tele-fiction really intrigued me.
It seems like you are quite selective about the kind of projects that you act in. Is there any specific reason for it?
I am eternally grateful to the audience for their love and support over the years, but I will never compromise on the quality of the projects that I take up. I feel that the content of our television programmes and films these days is not up to the mark. I also do not have any plans of doing movies right now, until I find something that is creatively satisfying for me as an actor.
As you are the current Vice President of Bangladesh Film Artist Association, do you plan to compete in the next elections?
I have not given much thought to that yet, as there is still a lot of time until the next elections are held. But I am committed to working for the betterment of our industry.
Where do you plan to spend Eid-Ul-Fitr this year?
I will be staying in Dhaka and perhaps go on a trip later on.
