Ekushey Grantha Mela begins today

The month-long Ekushey Grantha Mela starts today at Suhrawardi Udyan and Bangla Academy, with all the publishers prepared with their stalls. A competitive spirit is evident amongst them, as the most eye-catching stall receives an award at the end of the fair.
Ekushey Grantha Mela is the only book fair known to take place for a month. There are 23 pavilions and 395 stalls, 620 units at the Suhrawardi Udyan. Apart from the Udyan, there are stalls at the Little Magazine Chattar in Bangla Academy. This year, the stalls are designed to be easily accessible to the visitors.
Publisher of Tamralipi, AKM Tarikul Islam Rony mentions that they have come up with several new collections this year. “The Suhrawardi Udyan becomes festive during the month of February. We feel delighted to see people from of all ages having a great time,” says Farid Ahmed, president of Bangladesh Gayan O Srijonshil Prokashok Samity, an association of publishers of knowledge-based and creative books.
